A recent independent evaluation of the Transition to Independence Grant (TIG) Program found that recipients accelerated their careers by generating independent research funding, earning promotions, and leading in the American Society of Nephrology.
The first ever evaluation of the program found that awardees:
- Obtained R01 grants within 3 years (37%) and 9 years (84%) after their TIG, totaling $638 million in R01 grants.
- Earned tenure within 10 years with 50% earning tenure within five years of their TIG.
- Published 12,018 peer reviewed publications and over 830,595 citations.
