Kidney Week Endowed Lectures

Held annually at ASN Kidney Week, endowed lectureships provide an opportunity to recognize individuals who have made an impact on, or dedicated their lives, to the kidney community. The program is comprised of 10 lectureships named in honor of Christopher R. Blagg, Barry M. Brenner, Celeste Castillo Lee, Jack W. Coburn, Garabed Eknoyan, Barbara Murphy, Burton D. Rose, Robert W. Schrier, Sharon Silbiger, and Michelle P. Winn.

Christopher R. Blagg, MD, Endowed Lectureship in Kidney Diseases and Public Policy

This lectureship was endowed by Northwest Kidney Centers and ASN to underscore the linkage between delivery of care for patients with progressive renal failure and ESRD, the public policy issues associated with the disease and its care, and the greater economic issues confronting healthcare in the new century.

Barry M. Brenner, MD, Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship recognizes the global impact a physician plays in discovering ways to improve the well-being of patients inflicted with kidney diseases. It is endowed by Monarch Pharmaceuticals.

Celeste Castillo Lee Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship honors Ms. Lee's contributions and involvement in patient engagement and provides an opportunity to recognize the patient as an integral member of the research and clinical team. It is endowed by Travere Therapeutics, Inc., and several individuals.

Jack W. Coburn, MD, Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship recognizes Dr. Coburn's contributions to nephrology in the areas of bone metabolism and divalent ions. It is endowed by Amgen.

Garabed Eknoyan, MD, Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship honors Dr. Eknoyan's contributions as a key architect of evidence-based and expert-generated clinical practice guidelines in nephrology by highlighting innovative advances in clinical care of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) or end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) on dialysis. It is endowed by a donation from ASN Past President Wadi N. Suki, MD.

Barbara T. Murphy, MB BAO BCh, Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship honors Dr. Murphy's legacy as a leader in transplant immunology and medicine by recognizing advances in kidney transplantation. It is endowed by Verici Dx, Renalytix, and the American Society of Transplantation.

Burton D. Rose, MD, Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship in Dr. Rose's honor recognizes innovative advances in the approach to clinical decision-making and leading-edge educational techniques. It is endowed by Wolters Kluwer (publisher of UpToDate), the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Department of Medicine Foundation, the Rose Family, and several individuals.

Robert W. Schrier, MD, Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship recognizes Dr. Schrier's outstanding contribution to nephrology, biomedical research, and education. It is endowed by Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Novartis, Astellas Pharma US, and several individuals.

Sharon Silbiger, MD, Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship honors Dr. Silbiger's legacy as a nephrologist, educator, and investigator by highlighting research in women's health and kidney diseases. It is endowed by ASN and Women in Nephrology (WIN).

Michelle P. Winn Endowed Lectureship

This lectureship honors Dr. Winn's wide-ranging achievements in glomerular disease and genetics, as well as her many contributions to increasing opportunities in medicine and research. It is endowed by Duke University School of Medicine, the school's Division of Nephrology, and several individuals.
