Biography
Dr. Arjang Djamali is Chair of the Department of Medicine at Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME. He earned his medical degree from Montpellier Medical School in Montpellier, France. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit and a fellowship in nephrology at University of Wisconsin Madison where he joined the faculty and rose through the ranks to the position of Professor of Medicine and Surgery and Head of the Nephrology Division. Dr. Djamali is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology and is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation. As a transplant nephrologist and scientist with more than 200 manuscripts published in peer reviewed journals, Dr. Djamali has been considered a national leader in the areas of antibody mediated processes and kidney transplant outcomes. He has been funded by the NIH, Foundations, and Industry throughout his career and has been a member of the NIH, VA-H, and national societies? grant review panels, a member of advisory panels to the FDA and pharmaceutical industry, an invited speaker nationally and internationally, and a member of planning committees for national and international society meetings. Dr. Djamali holds three INDs and is the Associate Editor of Kidney360, the most recent publication from the American Society of Nephrology.
