Dr. Merscher is a Research Associate Professor at the University of Miami - Miller School of Medicine, Miami, FL. Research in Dr. Merscher's laboratory focuses on elucidating and understanding the molecular mechanisms that contribute to the development of proteinuria in glomerular diseases with an emphasis on lipotoxicity-induced podocyte injury. Dr. Merscher has co-authored more than 75 peer-reviewed journal articles, she is scientific reviewer for several peer-reviewed scientific journals, review editorial board member for Frontiers in Medicine (Nephrology), and has served as a grant reviewer for the American Heart Association since 2012 and Ad-hoc reviewer for NIH/NIDDK since 2016.
