Dr. Krzysztof Kiryluk, Associate Professor of Medicine, is a physician-scientist in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at Columbia University. He received his medical degree at the Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Nephrology fellowship at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University, and additional training in biostatistics and statistical genetics at the Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Kiryluk's research aims to define genetic factors contributing to the risk of kidney disease and related traits in humans. He leads several large collaborative national and international genetic studies of glomerular disorders, including for IgA nephropathy and membranous nephropathy. He is investigating genetic regulators of IgA production and O-glycosylation, and their relationship to human health and disease. Dr. Kiryluk uses functional genomics and systems genetics approaches to elucidate molecular mechanisms underlying inherited kidney disorders. He is also developing novel approaches to identify genetic predictors of kidney allograft rejection using genome-wide donor-recipient compatibility studies.
